An Evening with Bill Cosby, which takes place Sept. 24 at Bass Performance Hall in downtown Fort Worth, will help fund scholarships awarded through the TCC Foundation.
The financial assistance offered by the foundation ultimately helps recipients reach their college goals by providing much-needed help with college tuition and expenses.
“Proceeds from the event will go into our scholarship fund,” said Liz Sisk, foundation donor relations officer. “We’ve given out 370 scholarships from the foundation.”
She hopes that number will grow in the coming year and that the foundation can offer more assistance to students.
Because of the excitement surrounding this legendary comedian, the show is nearly sold out.
“There are about five scattered seats around the performance hall available,” Sisk said.
The anticipated turnout for this show is a complete success for the foundation, Sisk said, and choosing a celebrity like Cosby was an easy decision for the board.
“What he’s stood for and the way he values education aligns with our mission,” she said.
According to the foundation’s website (www.tccd.edu/Foundation), general scholarships are funded by gifts from individuals, families, businesses, corporations, TCC employees and various special fundraising events such as An Evening with Bill Cosby.
Students attending TCC are encouraged to apply for scholarship support. For more information, students can visit the financial aid service center on any campus or apply online at tccd.scholarships.ngwebsolutions.com.
