With its Trailblazers name and a bull as TCC’s new mascot, the college’s marketing team is asking students for their input to name the bull.
The website www.tccd.edu/NameTheMascot was set up for students to give their suggestions. Submissions will not be accepted after Oct. 20.
TCC graphic specialists Angel Briseno, John Vanpelt and Patricia Kimble designed the logo.
Trailblazers’ name was narrowed down from a list of 500 from student development services on each campus. But to give the mascot a more familiar name, such as Bevo for the University of Texas Longhorns, the TCC marketing team wanted students in the mix.
“We started the mascot process with the input from the directors of student development services,” said Arturo Martinez, TCC’s publications coordinator. “They got student input in the forms of surveys, questionnaires and focus groups.”
Martinez also said he thought the bull was a good logo for the school and the region of North Texas.
“I was excited to get the opportunity to develop a mascot character that captured the fighting spirit of TCC’s leadership, student body, faculty and staff,” Martinez said. “The bull really ties in with the rich cowboy heritage of Fort Worth.”
