Graduation is drawing closer for the TCC district, but students must meet several requirements before the graduation application deadline passes.
The May commencement ceremony will cover students from the fall, spring and summer semesters. Those wishing to apply must do so by Nov. 13.
Students must meet certain criteria to graduate, including a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 for all TCC courses and at least 25 percent of required courses taken at TCC.
NE Campus academic counselor Kim Eason suggested students see an academic advisor to make sure that their degree plans have been completed.
“It’s kind of a bummer when you go to apply to graduate, and they say you haven’t taken P.E. 1164, or you’re short one credit or something like that,” she said.
Eason said students wishing to transfer to another college should send two transcripts to their school of choice — one before final grades, and another one after.
Students have the option of petitioning for graduation online or by applying in person at the counseling center on their home campus.
“We are trying to get people to petition online now through WebAdvisor,” Eason said. “It makes it a lot faster. Or if they want to, we can do it the old-fashioned way. We have a carbon copy. They fill it out. We fill it out. Then it has to be sent from one office to another office to another. It does take it a little longer, but we can do it that way also.”
Those wishing to apply online may log in to WebAdvisor and select Application for Graduation under the academic links in the student menu.
If students wish to have a course substituted for another course, Eason suggests students do it early enough to have the course substitution corrected before the graduation application deadline.
For more information on the graduation application deadline or requirements, students can check the TCC Web site under the student services tab or call 817-515-8223.
