NW Campus’ African-American Heritage Celebration Feb. 23 will include refreshments and games and feature the Bandan Koro African Drum and Dance Ensemble.
The ensemble will perform dance and drum routines and offer impromptu dance lessons 11 a.m.-1 p.m. in WSTU 1303.
The Bandan Koro African Drum and Dance Ensemble is a professional company located in Dallas.
“Our mission is to educate and inspire through African art,” company director Tony Browne said.
The ensemble was formed in 2009 and currently offers workshops and classes across the metroplex.
The African dance classes are open to all levels of experience and are offered in a family-friendly environment. Children are encouraged to attend. All sessions are accompanied by traditional African drumming.
Bandan Koro also offers drum classes for all levels of experience. The classes focus on history and technique regarding traditional African drumming.
