The NE Student Government Association met April 19 with the clubs attending presenting their final plans for the semester.
The Dance Club is canceling its meeting April 26 to practice for its upcoming performances. The shows are at 7:30 p.m. May 5-7 with a 2:30 p.m. matinee show May 6.
The Human Experience meets 1-2 p.m. every Thursday to discuss topics such as finding meaning in life.
The Soccer Club is hosting tryouts currently for next semester. Tryout times and dates can be found on Blackboard. Practices are at 10 a.m. every Saturday at L.D. Bell’s stadium.
Phi Theta Kappa announced it would hold officer elections April 25.
The Child Development Club will hold its meeting at 10 a.m. April 28 in NSTU 1204 to discuss future events.
The Minecraft Club has a new president, Sky Hardy. In the SGA meeting, he discussed future plans for the group. Next semester, they plan to make a giant tree community in their virtual world to hopefully accommodate for more people to join the club, which will meet 2-5 p.m. every Monday in the fall.
The Psychology Club has an event April 29 on TR Campus. The event is called Out of the Darkness, a walk for suicide prevention. Registration is at 9 a.m. with the walk beginning at 10 a.m.
SGA president Christian Vellegas talked about the Good Samaritan scholarship that the association established this semester after last year’s fundraising efforts. The scholarship is already being given to two recipients.
SGA elections were scheduled for April 24-25. There were no incumbents or opposition runners. At press time, the following positions were still open: secretary, senate chair, historian, senator-at-large, student public relations director and business outreach director.
