A four-part series, Diabetes Empowerment Education Program, will conclude on South Campus with seminars Feb. 22 and Feb. 29.
Both programs, presented by Toya Norton, John Peter Smith Hospital community diabetes case management coordinator, will be at 12:30 p.m. in the SSTU Forum Room.
The Feb. 22 program will examine statistics on the prevalence of diabetes, and the Feb. 29 program will cover the role of nutrition and healthy habits and also will contain a review of key points from previous programs.
Participants are encouraged to bring lunches. Complimentary drinks and healthy snacks will be provided by South Campus health services, sponsor of the program.
DEEP, a project of the JPS Community Outreach Education Program, is designed to teach individuals with diabetes and those at risk of developing the disease the importance of self-care, nutrition, positive behavior and lifestyle.
