Soccer games to raise money for UNICEF

Having fun and raising money for mothers and children in third-world countries is what Phi Theta Kappa’s Rho Chi Chapter hopes to accomplish during its coed soccer tournament.

The event takes place between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. May 1 in the gym on South Campus. It is open to the public and will cost $1 per person.

Event organizer Karim Zeglam said he’s counting on people to help with the UNICEF relief fund.

“I really hope people come out and support these mothers and children who are in third-world countries who can’t fend for themselves,” Zeglam said.

“At the same time, while helping, teachers and students will have fun together playing soccer, instead of preparing for finals in the classroom.”

Zeglam said the chapter has five to six teams that will compete in the tournament. Each team consists of five to seven players who are either teachers or students.
