South Campus is gearing up for its 11th annual Gobble Wobble Nov. 18.
The two-mile fun run/walk around South Campus, designed to promote wellness and fitness, serves another purpose as well. The event collects canned goods for the Tarrant Area Food Bank. The day begins at 2:30 p.m. in SHPE gymnasium.
Gobble Wobble is open to all TCC students, faculty and staff. The entry fee will be five cans of food.
With three different age groups competing, both male and female, 12 winners will receive prizes: a turkey for first-place winners and a Cornish hen for second.
Participants can choose between walking and running divisions.
Kevin Kinser, health and physical education associate professor and second-year director, said he is looking forward to Gobble Wobble.
“I enjoy seeing the amount of food that is raised to benefit so many in the community,” he said.
Last year, Gobble Wobble raised about 2,500 pounds of food.
Kinser and the HPE department are encouraging everyone to participate.
“I enjoy seeing how everyone has a good time,” he said.
Registration will begin at 2 p.m. in the SHPE gym. The first 200 participants to arrive will receive a free T-shirt.
Sponsors for Gobble Wobble include South Campus health and physical education department, intramural program, student activities and Community Outreach. The Runner is furnishing numbers for participants.
