NE music department faculty members will give their annual performance of Music Through the Centuries March 27.
“It is a musical journey from the Middle Ages to the present time,” music instructor Stan Paschal said. “We will be featuring faculty members from all musical disciplines: voice, percussion, piano, etc.”
After realizing that many students had never attended a live concert, classical or otherwise, the music department created this comprehensive concert as a solution.
“This is a concert performed every semester, and this will be our 11th Music Through the Centuries concert,” Paschal said.
Past performances have featured piano, harpsichord, organ, violin, cello and harp arrangements, but more diverse instruments are being included for this concert, Paschal said.
“This semester, we will have a duet with a trombone and trumpet in addition to a hurdy gurdy,” he said.
This free concert will give students an opportunity to “get up close and personal” with the musicians and musical instruments, Paschal said. The performance begins at 7:30 p.m. in NSTU Center Corner.
