The first African-American to qualify and compete in the Indianapolis 500 will talk to students on NW and SE campuses Feb. 16.
In honor of Black History Month, Willy T. Ribbs will share his experiences as a professional race car driver over the last 25 years.
The African-American driver with the most wins, he was also the first African-American to compete in NASCAR’s Winston Cup series, to win the Formula Ford Dunlop Championship in Europe and to receive two Driver of the Year titles. He is also the first and only African-American to test for the Formula One Grand Prix team in Portugal.
Ribbs will speak 10-11 a.m. in WSTU 1303 on NW and 1:15-2:15 p.m. in the North Ballroom on SE. Question-and-answer sessions will follow both presentations. Admission is free.
