New club for media

Lights, camera, action! Not only is that the final directions most likely to be given on a movie set, it’s also the battle cry of a small, dedicated and multi-talented group of students at NE Campus. They make up the TCC Broadcasting Association, a club that devotes itself to their chosen career field of radio, television, and film.

The club meets Wednesday at noon in NIMC 1103 and is comprised of a group of radio-television broadcasting students. It is under the leadership of RTVB program head Jerry Zumwalt.

Club members discuss ways to raise money while taking the experiences they learn in their classes to the next level, such as volunteering to film at several events in the community, as well as taking part in several campus-wide events.

Dylan Anderson serves as club president.

“ Our goal is to bring people closer to the media world,” he said.

One of the major events the group plans to participate in is the upcoming Spring Fest. The annual event, held April 17-18, features numerous TCC clubs and organizations providing information about individual clubs.

The club will have a live radio broadcast at Spring Fest this year. The club also has planned two movie days, at which they will show classic movies.

In addition to Spring Fest, other plans are currently in the works, such as taking part in the annual 24-Hour Video race.

Anderson hopes to get the word out around campus to draw more interest to broadcast.
