Loved ones and friends of people afflicted by drug addiction may find some helpful tips Feb. 10 on SE Campus.

Drug Abuse Issues in Tarrant County will present information on drug and alcohol abuse and its effects on and consequences for addicts and those around them 10-11:20 a.m. in the North Ballroom.

The session will allow attendees to hear the points of view of a varied group of experienced professionals, ranging from law enforcement to people who deal with these issues in local public schools.

Panelists at the lecture will include Debra Vation, an intervention specialist in the Arlington Independent School District; Randy Lockhart, the Arlington Police Department; and Cynthia Savage, Recovery Resource Council representative.

A counselor with the Recovery Resource Council, formerly the Tarrant Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse, described the group as a Tarrant County-based organization created to help those affected both directly and indirectly by drug and alcohol addiction deal with the strain and issues that follow such an issue. The organization offers counseling services and legal advice.
