The director of the Genetic Education Center in Fortville, Ind. will hold discussions on the latest discoveries concerning stem cell research and its procedures Feb. 11 on NE Campus.
Sam Rhine has traveled the country for more than 30 years presenting information to students and teachers and will provide information on the latest advances in stem cell research.
His presentation will start at 6 p.m. in the NSTU Center Corner.
The issue of stem cell research has been on the forefront of a nationwide debate.
Because of the techniques used to extract the stem cells, which involve destroying an embryo, the issue is controversial.
But new techniques have taken the risk out of harvesting stem cells.
According to National Public Radio, scientists have unveiled a new technique that could possibly break the political deadlock over human embryonic stem cells.
Rhine will also present information on how the latest technology will revolutionize the way people view the issue of tissue engineering and stem cell research.
