Now-Sept. 26 NW visual arts department closes its annual Faculty Art Show in the Lakeview Gallery (WFAB 1135) on NW Campus, featuring work from art faculty such as John Hartley, Fred Spaulding, Matt Guest, Winter Rusiloski, Trish Igo, Candace Austin and Adam Palmer. The exhibit incorporates a variety of media including paint, sculpture, furniture and screen print. Gallery hours are 8 a.m.-10 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday. Sept. 24 The NW performing arts department will perform music, drama and dance 7:30-9 p.m. on the outdoor Cinco Palms Stage (adjacent to WADM circle drive). The event will feature solo artists. Oct. 1 Students should submit artwork to the TCC Trinity River Art Show by Oct. 1. It costs $5 to enter up to 10 pieces, $1 for additional pieces and $2 to have work judged. The work will be displayed 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Oct. 7-9 down TRTR Main Street. Students can vote on submissions once per the three-day event. Oct. 1-4 The NE Playhouse will present Picasso at the Lapin Agile, a comedy written by Steve Martin and directed by drama associate professor Stephen Thomas. The play revolves around Albert Einstein and Pablo Picasso in a Parisian café in 1904 before Einstein’s theory of relativity and Picasso’s cubism period. Showtimes will be 7 p.m. Wednesday-Saturday with an additional 2 p.m. Saturday matinee. Admission is $6 for the general public, $3 for non-TCC students and senior citizens and free for TCC students, faculty and staff. Oct. 2-4 South Campus fine arts will present Below the Belt by Richard Dresser, a humorous play about corporate absurdity. All performances begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Joe B. Rushing Center for the Performing Arts. Tickets will be sold on performance day at the South Campus box office. Oct. 8-12 Theatre Northwest presents an adaptation of Mark Twain’s classic The Adventures of Tom Sawyer for its first production of the semester.
