South Campus welcomed its newly appointed president Peter Jordan during a reception Jan. 17.
“I’m glad to be here,” he said. “I look forward to meeting members of the community and, even more so, look forward to working with them to really improve student success and continue to make this campus the vanguard campus of Tarrant County College.”

Attendees took the opportunity to learn about the new president, offer suggestions and get a first impression.
Laboratory assistant Sammy Moore said she would like to see Jordan change the policy on how phones are answered on campus.
“When I first started, all the secretaries and support staff had to take etiquette classes,” she said. “All these new people came in [and] need to take those classes.”
Administrative office assistant Gail Bryeans who works in the building services office thinks Jordan is going to be a hands-on leader.
“He’s already been down and met the guys and checked how the central plant worked and looked at the chillers,” she said. “That’s very unusual. That’s kind of cool.”
Student Government Association president and veteran Jerod Bohon, who was one of the speakers, is in his first term and excited about working with Jordan.
“Being new, also, I’m still figuring out what’s going on, but I am encouraged to see the leadership and experience he brings to this campus,” Bohon said.
Student Tray Menefee has attended South more than three years and hopes Jordan can make the facility a great place.
“So far, everything is good,” he said. “Hopefully, he can keep everything up to par. Not a lot of bad things have been said about South Campus. Hopefully, he can keep that up too.”
Student Jeauna Scott wants the price of the food changed and more help added to assist students.
“We need more tutors and everything,” she said. “That’s what I see.”
Student MeMe Davis attended to gather more information about Jordan.
“The reception is awesome, great food, great music,” she said. “I’m just ready to meet him and see who he is.”
