To donate, participants must be 18-44, be willing to donate to anyone in need and meet all health guidelines. April 8 Motivation will be presented 10-11 a.m. in NBSS 1103 on NE Campus. NE counselor Masika Smith will present an interactive workshop designed to keep students productive.

April 8 TCC Connect will be on TR Campus to speak with current or prospective students about TCC’s eLearning offerings 10 a.m.-7 p.m. on TRTR Main Street. Representatives can answer questions about enrolling in Weekend College, earning a degree online and completing dual credit courses while finishing high school.

April 8 South Campus police will hold a barbecue for students, faculty and staff 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on the SSTU patio. Beverages, hamburgers, hot dogs and other food will be provided.

April 8 Random Thoughts on State and National Government will be presented 12:30-1:30 p.m. in the Darlage Center Corner (NSTU 1615A) on NE Campus. Todd Smith, a former member of the Texas State Senate, will discuss his time as a legislator.

April 8 Henry Chappell, an author and reporter for Texas Wildlife, will discuss his book Silent We Stood 12:30-1:30 p.m. in the Heritage Room (NLIB 1129) in the J. Ardis Bell Library on NE Campus as part of the Civil War’s 150th anniversary. Chappell’s book tells the story of a small group of abolitionists working in secrecy within Dallas’ close-knit society.

April 8, 9 The NE English department’s Living Literature will feature Laura McBride 7-8:30 p.m. on the 8th and 9:30-10:45 a.m. on the 9th in the Darlage Center Corner on NE Campus (NSTU 1615A). McBride, a writer and community college teacher, will share excerpts from her new book, We Are Called to Rise. A book signing will follow her presentation. April 16 SE advising and counseling will host Safe and Sober presented by Thomas Peoples. This workshop will provide insight into the pressures that college students face regarding drug and alcohol consumption. Nearly all students are affected by college drinking, whether or not they actively partake in it. Students will learn about the consequences of excessive drinking.
