NW Campus held its Northwest Fest Sept. 9-10 for students to meet with different campus student organizations and services.
“It’s our way to kick-start the semester for students to see how they can get involved on campus,” student activities coordinator Alicia Coleman said.
The event allowed students to sign up for student clubs and organizations and to find out about volunteer and leadership opportunities. Various clubs had booths set up for their student leaders to meet with fellow students.
“It’s great to get to know a lot of clubs,” NW student Han Tran said. “There’s more clubs than I thought. I think the leadership clubs are a great thing, and I’m interested in starting a club.”
NW student Catherine Farmer said burgers provided by In-N-Out Burgers drew her in, but that she was surprised by how fun the event was.
“I’m most interested in the criminal justice and tennis team clubs,” she said. “I didn’t even know these clubs were around.”
Coleman said students can find out about clubs or the steps for starting their own club through the student activities office located in WSTU 2811B.
The event also allowed students to become familiar with campus student services such as career services, academic advisement and health services.
“It was helpful to learn more about what [the campus] has to offer,” NW student Jordan Burghoff said.
