As a reflection of TCC’s commitment to international initiatives, NW Campus will host a Global Citizenship Awareness Day 9:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Nov. 19.
“Students will discover a different way to learn about the world,” said organizer and NW history and government professor Laura Wood.

The daylong event is split into two separate sections that will both take place on NW.
The first part begins at 9:30 a.m. in WSTU 1305. A live-streaming conference will allow TCC students to talk to students from Japan and Peru. This live interaction through technology will let students from around the globe talk about their daily lives, coursework and struggles, Wood said.
“Students will learn not all college students have the same experiences,” she said.
The second half begins at 11 a.m. in the Saenz Conference Center (WACB 1123). TCC international faculty and students from Japan, Morocco and several other countries will discuss their experiences with TCC students. Students will get the chance to talk to the international leaders one on one for several minutes before switching to the next leader.
Then, TCC students who took part in the Salzburg Global Seminar in May will provide information to other TCC students about the study abroad program. The application for the summer program opens in the spring semester.
The travel course enables students to stay at the historic palace of Schloss Leopoldskron in Salzburg, Austria, while enrolling in three to six credit hours. Students will interact with global leaders students from around the world and learn to become global citizens.
“The goal [of the awareness day] is to increase enrollment and knowledge about the program,” Wood said.
The Salzburg scholars will be available to answer any questions and share their experiences.
Open to all TCC students, the event also will include international food, a dance team performance and interactive presentations.
