Session to aid presentations for classes

By Chris Webb/nw news editor

Every veteran college student has seen a bad PowerPoint or two by a classmate.

A NW Campus workshop will remedy this problem. Danelle Ellis, NW librarian, will present Put on a Good Show Only You Can Prevent Bad Power Point, on Feb. 26.

Ellis said more teachers are asking students to do PowerPoint presentations with projects.

“New PowerPoint users are much more likely to produce a bad PowerPoint because the software allows you to do so much so simply that it’s easy to get carried away,” she said. “We wanted to help students with this.”

The workshop will also benefit experienced users by revealing helpful tips and tricks, Ellis said.

“During the workshop, we will start with a presentation of how not to give a PowerPoint. Then we are going to show students how to give a good PowerPoint without all the bells and whistles and some of the more interesting tools available with the software,” she said.

The workshop is free and open to anyone who wants to attend. The first workshop starts 12:30 p.m. with an encore for night students at 5 p.m. in the Library.
