MISS Representation, a documentary by Jennifer Siebel Newsom, will be shown March 21 on NE Campus followed by a Healthy Body Image panel.
Newsom’s documentary illustrates media’s role in the lack of women in positions of power and influence.
Panelists will include academic affairs senior office assistant Natalie Guiter, student development assistant Janjura Williams, academic advisor Marjeanna Burge, speech assistant professor Lisa Benedetti and Margaret Martin, American Association of University Women representative.
The first half of the three-hour presentation will be the documentary. The second half will be the panel who will recap the film and will discuss their own images and how self-perception has affected them.
Alexandria Gurley, student development assistant, said the panel hopes students will learn “correlation and not take image critical on women” after the presentation.
The NE presentation will be 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. in Center Corner (NSTU 1615). For film showings on other campuses, see calendar on this page.
