Band of Heathens Self-titled (2 stars)
Though the self-titled album from The Band of Heathens incorporates relatively good, catchy music, nothing in the album is exceptional or memorable.
The rather simplistic elements of the songs make the album easy to listen to, but also make it very unoriginal and uninspiring.
Even within the album, most of the songs sound alike. There seems to be no real difference, except of course, the song titles.
The vocals on songs such as “Jackson Station” and “Unsleeping Eye” are surprisingly interesting and pleasant, but the rest of the album relies too heavily on guitar riffs and musical rhythm rather than vocal talent.
Unfortunately, neither the vocals nor the music will keep the listener’s attention.
The album is simply too bland, without much creativity, despite its catchiness, to be worth the time.
