Rob Blackledge had a choice: major league baseball or a music career.
But in his 10th grade year, Blackledge and a band performed for some students at a ministry school program, and there he made his decision. No longer did he have a dream to play baseball.
Regardless of colleges wanting Blackledge for baseball, he made it into Nashville’s Belmont University, a school known for its music business program.
Now, Blackledge reveals his debut album, Inside These Walls.
The album includes 10 songs, all of which have their own good sound.
“Should Have Known Better” offers a melodic rhythm and catchy lyrics. “Maybe she will forgive this fool who didn’t know what to do. Man, I should have known better,” appeals to both sexes in a common situation.
“Granola Girl” is also a well-done song on the Inside These Walls album. It’s a song about a girl that Blackledge evidently admires. “She lights the room when she walks in. Steals a glance my way, it makes me grin” would warm any woman’s heart.
The basic genre Blackledge sports are R&B and pop. Yet in the long run, in a way, he sounds like a mellower version of Jason Mraz.
He sounds like the usual contemporary artists, but that’s what makes it so easy for audiences to accept this new artist.
Blackledge’s nice sound and catchy lyrics should easily capture a fan line-up.
He has a smooth voice and well-written lyrics that convey positive messages to anyone listening.
