SE Campus geared up for its March Madness intramural tournament with a series of 3-on-3 exhibition games March 3.
Each team played a 25-minute game with the first to score 20 points winning.
We Eatt defeated TCC g’s in a blowout 20-6 win. We Eatt player Chris Stevenson said his team came prepared. He credited his teammate Christian Couthen as an energy guy.
Couthen, who had two blocks, six rebounds and a put-back dunk, said he did what was needed to win.
“We dominated the paint. And when you do that, it’s easy to win,” he said.

No L’s defeated Hoopers 20-18. The clutch shooting of No L’s players Joe Meyers and Zachary Miles put the game away. Both players made three 3-point field goals.
Miles said any team has a chance when there are shooters on the court.
“Three-point shooting is what won us the game,” he said. “Our defense was sloppy.”
Meyers said his team needed to focus on fundamentals.
“We didn’t box out, we turned the ball over and we missed easy shots,” he said. “We were clutch at the end, but it shouldn’t have been that close.”
Hoopers player Jamal Brown said his team didn’t take care of the ball.
“We didn’t rotate, and our man-to-man defense was sloppy,” he said. “We let Joe [Meyers] get too many open looks.”
In the day’s final game, No L’s defeated Elite 4, 19-18. Early in the game, Elite 4’s Abiodua Adegoke scored on multiple pick-and-rolls to put his team ahead 7-6.
No L’s Meyers drove to the basket and scored on a bucket after a foul was called to put his team up 9-8. When Meyers wasn’t driving to the hoop, he looked for open shots, hitting another three 3-point field goals.
Adegoke had an open look for the game winner but bricked the shot.
Meyers said he was frustrated that his team didn’t play strong defense.
“It was like the last game,” he said. “We can’t turn the ball over, or one of these teams will catch us off guard.”
Adegoke blamed the loss on poor defense and lack of rebounding.
“I played terrible,” he said. “We should have won.”
The campus intramural basketball tournament begins March 10.
