Now-Nov. 14 The Organization of Latin Americans on SE Campus has teamed up with Helping Senior Citizens and The Salvation Army for Don’t Freak Out and Donate! Students are encouraged to contribute sugar-free candy and tissue boxes. Donation boxes for the drive are located in the Commons and in ESCT. Now-Dec. 5 NW student development services is hosting a community service donation drive benefiting Cook Children’s Hospital. Donations accepted include coloring books, paintbrushes, watercolors, children’s DVDs, markers and baby rattles. Cardboard donation boxes can be found across campus.

Now–Dec. 11 TR will have a Veterans Day Memorial Wall up for the remainder of the semester in the TR Rotunda. Students can support and honor veterans by leaving flowers, letters and other mementos. For more information, contact financial aid director Bill McMullen at william.mcmullen@tccd.edu.

Nov. 12 Mobile mammograms, sponsored by health services, will be available on SE Campus 8 a.m.-4 p.m. on the front drive along the east sidewalk.

Nov. 12 South Campus health services will sponsor the American Red Cross blood drive 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at the SSTU Patio. Donors should be healthy, weigh at least 110 pounds and be at least 17 years old with a photo ID. Walk-ins are welcome. Nov. 12 Students can learn about transferable skills from career services representatives 10 a.m.-noon at a table in the NSTU Bookstore hallway on NE Campus.

Nov. 12 TR students can attend Dress for Success, a business attire fashion show, 11 a.m.-1 p.m. in Action A (TRTR fourth floor). This event will show students how to dress in the workforce and provide basic etiquette tips.

Nov. 12 Students can learn several facets of financial goal-setting 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. in NBSS 1103 on NE Campus. The mini-module will cover topics ranging from how trade-offs and priorities apply to financial goals to how regular savings can protect long-term goals from being derailed.

Nov. 12 The NW Bridge Program will present Wells Fargo: Financial Literacy Workshop 12:30-1:30 p.m. in WFAB 2608 as part of its fall workshop series. Attendees will learn budgeting and savings tips from a Wells Fargo expert. Everyone is welcome.

Nov. 13 NW humanities department and S.W.A.G. (Scholars in Waiting Affirming Genius) will host the seventh annual Voices conference in WSTU 1303-1305. The conference features student presentation fairs during session I 9:30-10:50 a.m. and session II 11 a.m.-12:20 p.m. with keynote speaker Akin Babatunde during session III 12:30-1:50 p.m. The conference addresses topics in popular culture and showcases the work of humanities students. Nov. 13 Students can be bused to the University of Texas at Arlington to take a walking tour and receive information on what is required to enroll at the university 10 a.m.-3 p.m. after meeting in the Larry Darlage Center Corner (NSTU 1615A) on NE Campus. Nov. 13 The NW library will host International Games Day 11 a.m.-1 p.m. in the Walsh Library. More than 1,000 libraries across seven continents will play videogames, card games and tabletop games in unison. Admission is free, and light refreshments will be provided. Nov. 13 Students can identify areas of study interest from success coaches in addition to being provided tools to navigate their MyPlan results of career assessments 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. in NBSS 1103 on NE Campus. Nov. 14 NW counselor Anna Hinman presents the second installment of Mental Health First Aid noon-4 p.m. in WSTU 1305 on NW Campus. The interactive course teaches how to help someone who is developing a mental health issue or experiencing a mental health crisis and how to properly respond and understand signs of mental illness. Those who attended both sessions are eligible for certification as a mental health first aid provider. Limited seating is available, and registration is required.
