Everyone has heard of Bonnie and Clyde, but a SE art associate professor really wrote the book on these notorious criminals.
John Phillips will present All Roads Lead to Eastham: The History of Bonnie and Clyde Oct. 12 on SE Campus, describing the lives of Clyde Barrow and Bonnie Parker, two of the most infamous criminals of the Depression era.
“I’m kind of an expert on the subject of Texan Depression-era outlaws,” he said.
Phillips wrote Running with Bonnie and Clyde: The Ten Fast Years of Ralph Fults and later edited My Life with Bonnie and Clyde by Blanche Barrow.
“I think it’s great that we have teachers at TCC that are so passionate about local history and can share it with students,” SE library assistant director Tracey Minzenmayer said.
Minzenmayer said she thinks students will find the speech fascinating, especially those who watched the miniseries Bonnie & Clyde featured on the History Channel, A&E Network and Lifetime in 2013.
“I think it’s cool that the library holds speeches like that,” student Brandy King said. “It goes beyond just your basics, which most people think is the only thing community colleges do.”
The event will be 2:20-3:40 p.m. in ESED 1200.
