Springtime race helps raise fitness awareness on NE

NE students, faculty and staff interested in running or walking can attend the 5K Springtime Fun Run 12:30 p.m. April 30 by the NE tennis courts.

“The purpose of the fun run is to raise fitness awareness on campus,” said Lynn Fieser, wellness coordinator of the NE physical education department. “The entry fee is two cans of food that will go to a local food bank.”

Walkers, joggers and runners of all abilities are encouraged to participate because it is a fun event with fellow students, faculty and staff, Fieser said.

Students should check with professors because many instructors offer extra credit in health and physical education classes to those who participate in the event, she said.

Those interested can sign up for the event the week prior to the run. Go to the HPE building and sign up at the front desk with a gym supervisor.
