SE Campus soccer teams gathered April 17 for their next round of intramural soccer leading to the April 24 single-elimination tournament.

The first scheduled game was between Friends and Red Devils at 10 a.m., but none of the team members for Friends showed up. Friends forfeited, and the Red Devils advanced.

At 11 a.m., Just for Fun played the Chill-n-Go Pigeons. The Pigeons won 5-4.

Next up were the Panthers and the X-Men. The X-Men had to forfeit, so the Panthers killed time practicing on the field.

When it was the Warriors’ and Lamar’s turn, only three showed up for each team. When another player showed up for the Warriors team, Lamar had to forfeit.

At 2 p.m., the Red Devils played DS, whose members were punctual and wore white making them stand out from the other teams.

As soon as the game began, it started raining, but that did not stop the teams. In the first half, DS took a 1-0 lead.

DS player Frankie Jimenez made the next goal with a header. DS continued to surge ahead, and the first half ended with DS ahead 4-0.

DS scored one more in the second half, making it 5-0.

Intramural assistant Ian Ussery said he was surprised the Red Devils kept playing hard and did not give up.

“Soccer is a really tiring game. It is good they are still playing,” Ussery said.

The Red Devils scored with 15 minutes left in the game to avoid the shutout, but DS won 10-1.

Arlington SE and the Pigeons played at 3 p.m. All the players were on time, and to make them look more professional, the Pigeons wore yellow, and the Arlington players wore red.

Players argued and pushed each other several times until a Pigeons player was thrown out of the game for language. Andrew Armijo scored two goals for the Pigeons. The first half ended with the Pigeons holding a comfortable 4-1 lead.

Fernando Arguin scored the second goal for Arlington SE to make it 4-2. Then, Prince Prima scored, and Arlington SE began to take control.

At the end, Arlington SE outworked the Pigeons and came from behind to win the game, 6-4.
