The Looney Dynasty Boyz took the championship title by a score of 16-14 at the Hoopfest 3-on-3 Tournament April 27 on NE Campus.

All 18 teams were guaranteed to play at least three games April 26 during the event sponsored by TCC’s Men of Color and Evaluate Your Game as well as NE Campus’ continuing education and health and physical education departments.

The first team to 16 points or the team with the most points at the end of 15 minutes won the game.

After the guaranteed three games, the tournament began putting its 18 teams into brackets of six for playoffs, then semifinals and, eventually, the championship game.

“I think we were really unselfish, stuck together, didn’t get down on each other,” said ***IMG_3294webAdam Nemur, captain of the Looney Dynasty Boyz. “We didn’t fight with the refs, and we played as a unit instead of one-on-one like other teams.”

Commissioner Charles Williams said he sponsored and set up the event to promote good athleticism and sportsmanship from the different campuses.

“I think it was very successful, especially being the first inaugural event,” he said. “The competition level was great. It wasn’t a blowout and stayed competitive through to the end.”
