The 7th and final season of “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” premiered its first episode Feb. 21 on Disney+ with fans getting more questions than answers.
Where is Ahsoka Tano?
Fans hoping to see a reintroduction of the character after two seasons will be disappointed to hear they will have to wait.
Seeing clone Troopers like Captain Rex and Commander Cody back in action leading up to the treacherous order 66 is also quite fulfilling.
Fans who saw “Episode III, Revenge of The Sith” and “Star Wars Rebels” know that Cody turns against the Jedi because of order 66 and eventually dies.
Rex was able to take the chip that was controlling the clones out of his head before the Jedi purge, later going into exile.
This season should reveal how Rex was able to do so.
Having these two in a battle for the premiere episode already feels like action-packed “Clone Wars.”
The two are sent to a separatist base to find out why the clones have been losing the war.
They are sent out with clone Force 99, a squad of defected clones and unlike the famous 501st, the clone battalion later known as Vader’s First, fans have never seen these clones before in any other “Star Wars” lore.
The new character designs freshen up the series. Anakin Skywalker’s hair being down gives him the pre-Darth Vader look that fans were waiting for.
The new all-black trooper armor for the new Clone Force gives them a deadly look to go with their deadly personas.
This is excellent animation with no surprise giving the fact that Disney owns this show now.
For fans that are lost after the six-year grace period, Disney made a playlist of 20 non-filler episodes that are a must-watch before starting the new season.
Before watching fans will need to know about the “Death Watch” and Darth Maul’s return that will lead up to the siege of Mandalore, in order see how Maul will lose his role as the leader of Mandalore.
The first episode was filled with action-packed scenes that can make a viewer want to play “Star Wars Battlefront II” just to be a clone Trooper and give it to those clankers.
The animation is better than any other season from the series with new and better character designs, making this a worth watching season.
The 7th and final season of “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” can be watched only on Disney+, with new episodes Fridays through May 8, 2020.
