Bullies and perverts.
They’re nice people. Really, they are. They just don’t like it when the objects of their abuse and perversion want to be left alone.
Let’s start with bullies. An Ohio judge ordered Mark Byron to stop harassing his estranged wife. She left him because he was abusive and threatened to kill her. The judge also restricted him to supervised visitation with his son twice a week.
Over a four-month period, Byron violated the court order by getting on Facebook and raging about how his “vindictive” wife was keeping him from his son. She found out about it and returned to court to enforce the decree, which meant Byron faced 60 days in jail. As it turned out, he only visited his son once.
Once.
He was too busy building a campaign against his estranged wife on Facebook.
The judge was in a good mood and gave Byron a choice to either go to jail or post an apology for 30 days to his wife on Facebook for lying about her.
Byron posted the apology figuring it was a better option than sitting in jail for 60 days with a bunch of nice guys, like him, who might threaten to rape or kill him.
Moving on to perverts, Joe Cortlett was hot for his English teacher. He told her as much in the sexually explicit journals he wrote about her as part of his homework assignments. No, Cortlett was not a teenage boy with a crush. He was a 56-year-old man who, using the sense God gave a goat, defended his journal entries saying the teacher placed no topic restrictions on the assignment.
He was charged with sexual harassment and intimidation. After a campus hearing, he was banned from the school for three semesters. Furthermore, he was ordered to get psychological counseling before he could be reinstated.
Both Cortlett and Byron seemed genuinely befuddled by the fact that they were ordered to basically shut up and stay away from their respective women of interest. They both hired attorneys to argue the rulings against them as unconstitutional.
After all, they’re nice people. Really, they are.
