Cartoon Network’s defunct super heroes the Aqua Teen Hunger Force make their long-awaited film debut in Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film for Theaters.
Aqua Teen Hunger Force is made up of Master Shake, a milkshake voiced by Dana Snyder; Frylock, a box of fries voiced by Carey Means, and Meatwad, a wad of meat voiced by Dave Willis.
The crazy antics of the lovable, jersey threesome provide the usual dose of randomness fans have come to expect.
The aqua teens are aided in their adventure by many of the show’s regulars including mooninites Ignignokt and Err, plutonians Oglethorpe and Emory, the Cybernetic Ghost of Christmas Past from the Future and the trio’s porn-addicted neighbor Carl Brutananadilewski.
The movie centers loosely on the Insan-o-flex, an exercise machine from the future so powerful it will destroy the world, and the Cybernetic Ghost of Christmas Past from the Future’s attempts to stop it from being created.
Cartoon Network premiered the film in its entirety on its late-night Adult Swim block April 1 … in a box smaller than the station’s logo in the bottom corner.
The film caught national attention when an ad campaign featuring the mooninites in Boston, Mass., was mistaken as a bomb threat because Boston has no sense of humor.
Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film for Theaters delves into the origin of the aqua teens, finally explaining the link between the aqua teens and their inept villain Dr. Weird. In addition, the origin sequences finally give audiences the story on Time Lincoln, who has been featured in the closing credits of the show since it premiered.
Fans need to be sure and get their seats before it starts because the fun begins in the previews with a hard-rocking death-metal revamp of the “let’s all go to the lobby” advertisements.
Newcomers to the aqua teen phenomena might not get the pacing of the film, which mirrors the pacing of the show. Yes, the jokes are random. Yes, there is hardly any plot. But that is what makes this movie unique.
Even Space Ghost shows up for a cameo in the film, honoring the aqua teens who spun off of his show Space Ghost: Coast to Coast with a hilarious vignette.
This is one of those movies that is either understood or not, hated or loved. I doubt anyone will come out without a strong opinion one way or the other about this hilarious animated epic.
The aqua teen gang went all out for the movie. There’s a flaming chicken; Carl changed his pants for the filming; Master Shake actually does something useful, and Meatwad transforms into a couple of new meat-forms.
Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film for Theaters is the best movie of this year, even if most of the world does not realize that. I give it five stars.
