Superheroes are staple icons. Every child wants to be them, and every adult can still recall his/her favorite.
With March being Women’s History Month, SE assistant library director Tracey Minzenmayer and SE student activities will present Film Discussion of Wonder Woman! The Untold Story of American Super Heroines.
This interactive discussion will take place 12:50-2:10 p.m. March 26 in the Judith J. Carrier Library.
Minzenmayer said the discussion will cover the story of modern women and the way feminism has changed and evolved over the years
“We will see Wonder Woman from her roots take shape and how she changes with the decades,” she said.
Minzenmayer hopes the discussion will help women understand and recognize that they don’t have to act or look like the women represented in movies or television shows.
“It’s almost disheartening to see how women are portrayed in media,” she said. “I hope that this will show how far we have actually come but also how far we still have left to go to be represented fairly.”
This discussion will only be showing clips from the movie, but student activities will show the entire film in the week leading up to the speech.
Film viewing times include 1-2 p.m. and 2:30-3:30 p.m. March 20 and 10:40-11:40 a.m. and 2:20-3:20 p.m. March 24 in the ESCT HUB.
Minzenmayer said history and government faculty at the discussion will help bring up other points about women’s rights and tie the topic into women’s history.
