Construction is continuing on NE Campus as administrators move forward with development plans.

NE president Allen Goben said one of TCC’s largest efforts this year is upgrading and finishing construction.
At the beginning of the semester, yellow arches hovered over entrances and exits, which caused questions as to why they were there. On each end of campus, there is a natural gas well head, which creates revenue for the college. The arches run water through pipes to the campus pond, according to Goben.
The area between the administration building and the student center is also under construction for a new Information Station for students’ access.
“There will be rotational staffing to help people find things,” Goben said. “We’re hoping it’ll be a real fun hangout spot for students.”
NE student Kapuana Latu said she doesn’t feel new construction benefits her as a student, and the construction occurring now doesn’t seem like it is progressing.
“If the inside of the buildings and classrooms were under reconstruction, I think it would benefit me. Otherwise, I don’t think it does,” Latu said. “The main problem with construction is I feel like the school doesn’t give enough heads-up regarding the entrances and exits available.”
However, NE student Leah Hale said she doesn’t feel inconvenienced by the construction since she spends most of her time on one side of campus, but she is curious whenever she sees new construction.
“I think a new information center will definitely benefit me and others on campus,” Hale said.
