TCC dance students will showcase their abilities in multiple upcoming dance events throughout the district in April.
NW Campus will have three nights of dance performances April 26-28.
Savoring the Creative Artist is at 7:30 p.m. April 26 in Theatre Northwest (WTLO 1108).
“Each choreographer has created a unique piece that exhibits their interest in communication, their idea, whether movement for movement’s sake, a personal narrative or a character of a story,” said NW dance associate professor Amy Jennings.
Tickets for Savoring the Creative Artist and Spring into Dance! are free for TCC students, faculty and staff; $3 for non-TCC students and seniors; and $6 general admission.
Spring into Dance! From Soul to Sole will be at 7:30 p.m. April 27-28 in Theatre Northwest (WTLO 1108).
Each night will have different performances starting with technique classes on April 27. The following night features the Mosaic Dance Project and Northwest Dance Company.
“This season, we focused our choreography around the concept of dancing from the soul through the soles of our feet,” Jennings said. “Our students are magnificent, and this is the season where they perform their passion for dance artistry.”
NW student Omar Bojorquez is performing in Spring into Dance! and said performers are more involved than just dancing.
“Not only do we practice the work, but we also look at costuming, what would go best with the lights, set formation,” Bojorquez said.
SE Campus also has two upcoming dance events where students will showcase their work.
The SE student choreography concert is at 7:30 p.m. April 20 in the SE Dance Studio (EART 1101). Tickets for the concert are $2 or free with a non-perishable food pantry donation.
“This concert is exciting because it shows the choreographic talents of our dance students,” said SE dance associate professor Brandy Niccolai-Belfi.
Dance Works Spring 2018 has performances at 2 and 7:30 p.m. April 27 in the C.A. Roberson Theatre.
The Southeast Dance Company, Fusion Dance Company and other students will perform styles such as ballet, modern, jazz and hip-hop, Niccolai-Belfi said.
“We will be using technology like never before,” she said. “If you want to see what I am talking about, then get your tickets online now.”
