Women’s History Month calendar

Now-March 4 The Women in New Roles Art Show celebrating the program’s 32nd anniversary is on view in the Carillon Gallery of the Joe B. Rushing Center for the Performing Arts. The South Campus gallery opens 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday-Thursday.

 

Feb. 25-27 South Campus drama students present Medea 4: The Women of War in Carillon Theatre at 7:30 p.m. No reservations are needed. Tickets are free for TCC students, faculty and staff, $3 for seniors and non-TCC students and $6 for general admission.

 

March 1 Carlos Rovelo, South Campus government professor, presents The Rear View Mirror: Women Defining Themselves 11:15 a.m.-12:15 p.m. in the SSTU Living Room on South Campus. Social sciences is sponsoring the event.

 

March 2 In honor of Women’s History Month, Altheria Gaston, South Campus education department chair, presents Enrich Your Life: Diversify. She will lead participants in understanding the value of getting to know people who have different cultures, linguistics and religious beliefs. The session is 11:15 a.m.-12:15 p.m. in SSTU Texas Room.

 

March 4 Carolyn Brooks, author, trainer, corporate consultant and president of Simply Divine Communications, will present 7 Habits of Highly Effective Women … The Power of Pink. Tickets are $5 for students and $7.50 for the public. Advance reservations are required. Proceeds benefit the Women’s History Month Scholarship Fund. March 4-30 An exhibit on Women’s Imprint on History will be on view in the South Campus Jenkins Garrett Library lobby area.

 

March 4 Women’s History Month Film Festival on South Campus presents Salt of the Earth 2-4 p.m. in SACD 1402.

 

March 23 NE Campus student activities will sponsor Women of Color and HIV/AIDS 12:30-2 p.m. in NSTU Center Corner. Women’s studies graduate teaching assistant La Cisha Crear will discuss reasons women of color are more vulnerable to HIV/AIDS because of political, social and economic issues.
