A transfer coordinator told a room of about 25 students on NW Campus that a lot of resources are available to help them figure out what they want to do after they leave TCC.

“The deadline for transferring to a university is early March,” NW transfer coordinator Rachelle Montero said. “Events like March Major Madness, a week before spring break, assists students on any scholarship, applying or transfer questions that they have.”

She stressed the importance of being involved in clubs and events to have their resumes look better for schools like UNT, UTA, TCU and others, and to get transfer papers in on time.

It is also important for students to take their time when deciding what school they want to attend after leaving TCC and try not to put stress on themselves, she said.

But TCC is there to help students with all stages of transferring from trying to decide what they want to major in to which school they should attend, Montero said. and answer any questions.

“We want to make them feel most comfortable with the process of transferring,” she said.

The obvious benefit of attending TCC first is saving money before transferring, she said.

NW student Marvin Morales said he enjoyed the speech and thinks being at TCC has helped him and other students with becoming more social by joining clubs and groups.

TCC also helps financially because of the lower tuition cost.

“I enjoyed the speech, and being at TCC has helped me financially in saving money,” Morales said.  “This is my second year and this semester I’ve joined multiple clubs making new friends and just talking to more people. Being at TCC has given me time to decide that I want to major in marketing; I am still deciding on what school I want to transfer to,”

Students who attended the speech learned that there are many people to turn to for help.

“When I first came to Tarrant County I did not know about all the resources like clubs, coordinators and some teachers,” said NW student Justin Sewall. “They have helped me figure out what I want to do which is to become a teacher helping others like I have been helped while here. My time here has helped me grow as a person. ”
