The Monster Mash dance-a-thon raised close to $300 with the help of TCC students and alumni who weren’t afraid to get down for a good cause, NW dance associate professor Amy Sleigh said.

The NW Dance Club sponsored the event, and all proceeds benefited the children of the Assessment Center of Tarrant County.

“It was successful having students who just wanted to come and dance for the day — no expectations, no grades and no worrying about pointed feet,” she said. “The other highlight was community building. Students outside our dance community as well as alumni stopped by to support the fundraiser.”

NW dance student and volunteer Raquel Gochi said the event was not just Halloween fun but a good deed.

“As dance students, it’s great knowing we can help others through dance,” she said. “I’m glad I was a part of it this year. It’s awesome helping others.”

NW dance student Rebecca Doan said students who didn’t attend missed out on the fun.

“It’s a mini-prom but a Halloween version,” she said. “Who wouldn’t want to come to that?”
