A dead body was found at the TXU Power Plant owned by TCC near TR Campus Aug. 19. 

Two teenagers exploring the building reported seeing a body 10 feet down inside a pipe, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. While the identity of these teenagers is not known, TCC Chief of Police Jay Tillerson confirmed that they were not TCC students.  

This is the second dead body to be recovered from the plant in 16 months. In April 2025, a 27-year-old woman died when she fell 50 feet down a shaft at or near the plant. 

The college bought the building in 2004 with the intent to expand the TR East Campus, but it has been vacant since. Last year, the college tried to sell the building but eventually took it off the market after an auction didn’t produce a minimum bid. 

It is unclear who is leading the investigation.  

“We’ve actually asked Fort Worth [police] to investigate it,” Tillerson said. “So, they’re the ones that are doing the investigation.” 

However, Fort Worth Police Public Information Officer Buddy Calzada said the college is still in charge. 

“Our department is only assisting the Tarrant County College District Police,” Calzada said.
