A special tribute has been made to those battling a deadly disease: breast cancer.
Keith Ross, who works in general maintenance on NE Campus, has painted three pink ribbons and a blue one on a sprint car in honor of warehouse manager Pamela Zipen, who is in remission; Michelle Walsh, a NE child center teacher, who has finished chemotherapy, and NE police officer Karen Cameron, who died from breast cancer. The blue ribbon represents her officer status.
Ross said he is humbled to do this tribute.

“It’s a privilege to represent these ladies going through so much,” he said. “Usually when people see this, it shows there is hope and caring out there.”
Zipen said the tribute by Ross will shed light on breast cancer.
“There are a lot of people that are into racing that normally wouldn’t think about something like that,” she said. “I think he’s gonna raise awareness to those people and say, ‘We have family and friends and loved ones going through this, and we need to remember that.’”
Ross plans to race the car at Mountain Creek Speedway in Grand Prairie.
