Spring at TCC has brought new students and two new vice chancellors.
Nina Petty, former vice president of Innovative Developers Inc., started her new job as TCC’s vice chancellor of real estate and development Jan. 25. The position Petty assumes formerly belonged to David Wells, who will now serve as vice chancellor for academic affairs.
In her former position, Petty worked in partnership with The Beck Group in the renovation of the RadioShack offices that became TCC’s Trinity River Campus.
Glenn Hahan, IDI president and CEO, said the company will miss Petty and he takes great pride in knowing she will benefit the students and taxpayers served by TCC.
“She has the ability to understand the development and business sides of a project and extraordinary talent at building alliances,” Hahn said in a press release.
Petty served as vice president of corporate real estate for RadioShack. She also held the position of senior vice president and managing director of CB Richard Ellis, a global real estate services company.
Petty will oversee all of TCC’s real estate and building programs. Interim Chancellor Erma Johnson Hadley said she is pleased Petty accepted the opportunity to work for TCC.
“She is uniquely qualified to oversee all of our real estate and building programs and will bring outstanding private sector experience and insight to our planning and operations,” she said.
Wells has been an employee of TCC for 31 years. He began his TCC career as dean of continuing education on NE Campus.
In 1996, he became provost of the entire district’s continuing education and workforce development programs. During his time in that position, Wells established TCC’s corporate services and workplace development offices.
In his new position, Wells will oversee all credit and non-credit academic programs. Wells said his goal is to ensure the continuation of the college’s rich heritage of providing quality instructional services. He looks forward to working with his colleagues, the campus presidents and the other members of the Chancellor’s Executive Leadership Team.
“The appointment of vice chancellor for academic affairs is one of the most critical appointments that can occur at any college,” he said. “I am both proud and humbled to have been selected by Interim Chancellor Hadley for the position.”
Along with his experience at TCC, Wells also served as an educational administrator at Northwestern State University in Louisiana.
Wells’ new position is the result of splitting the position of vice chancellor of learning support services. The district is currently looking to fill a new position of vice chancellor for student services.
