NE’s Student Leadership Academy members spent the afternoon Dec. 2 filling and wrapping shoeboxes full of items for fellow TCC students in need this holiday season for their semester’s community project.
“We’ve done a series of sessions with the Student Leadership Academy, and this is our final one for the semester and is our opportunity to put all we have learned toward giving back to the community,” student Kevin Lasso said.
With Christmas music in the background, students began signing as many cards as possible to be placed into the shoeboxes. Students then filled the boxes with a variety of items from school supplies to canned food to candy and proceeded to wrap and decorate the boxes.
“It feels good to help fellow students who might not have as good a holiday as I am fortunate enough to have,” student Cornelius Hudson said. “We’re doing our part to be connected to the school and provide help in any small way we can.”
The shoeboxes will be handed out 8-9:20 a.m. Dec. 4 in NACB 1212.
