South spring concert to have eclectic style

The South dance program’s formal spring concert, Kaleidoscope, features an eclectic dance repertoire of classical ballet, jazz, musical theater, hip-hop, world, contemporary and aerial dance.

Rehearsing three to five days a week, the dancers involved have attended to every detail of their performance, dance associate professor Gypsy Ingram said.

“Dancers performing in the show have a unique opportunity and responsibility in that they are solely responsible for the entirety of the concert’s content,” she said. “For them, it is a great learning moment because they are experiencing firsthand about stamina and endurance,” she said. “It is a taste of what it is like to work in a professional dance environment where the requirement is greater than the ability to simply dance one three-minute dance.”

Ingram said the concert truly has something for everyone and represents the best South dance has to offer.

“Students coming to see this concert can expect to see a wildly entertaining night of dance,” she said.

Kaleidoscope will open doors at 7 p.m., and the show will start at 7:30 p.m. in the Carillon Theatre at the Joe B. Rushing Center for the Performing Arts. General admission is $5 and free for TCC students, faculty and staff with ID. For more information, contact Ingram at 817-515-4270 or gypsy.ingram@tccd.edu.
