The NE English and art departments sponsor an exhibit of artistic responses to the 10th anniversary of 9/11. The exhibit is currently on display in College Hall (NCAB 1111) and is open to students, faculty and staff. TR Campus continues its Faculty and Students Together program. Students can bring a faculty member to the Student Life Center and get a voucher for a free lunch.

Students can participate in one or several seminars during the NW Campus Student Success Conference. Sessions are 8:30, 9:30 and 11 a.m. Blair Johnson, NW counselor, will be keynote speaker at noon Wednesday. Day-of registration and check-in is in the WTLO lobby.

SE math/physics department will have a graphing workshop 10:40-11:30 a.m. in ESCT 3205.

TR Campus’ Lunchtime Workshop will feature Kristin Vinson-Wright’s seminar on how to get ready for the job fair noon-1 p.m., which will be held the next day. Vinson-Wright, coordinator of TR career and employment services, put the job fair together. Students may call Stevie Blakely at 817-515-1330 for more information.

SE Campus will host a service learning fair 9 a.m.-noon Wednesday and 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Thursday in the Main Commons. Nonprofit agencies will be looking for volunteers.

A job fair will be held 9 a.m.-1 p.m. in Main Street on TR Campus. Students are encouraged to dress in professional attire and bring at least 40 résumés. Companies in attendance will include Radio Shack, the Texas Rangers and Wells Fargo among many others. Students can call Kristin Vinson-Wright at 817-515-1325 for more information.

 

Sept. 15
NW health services and Beverly Fox, NW registered nurse, will present a CPR class 10 a.m.-2 p.m. in WTLO 4104 C. The class is needed for specific healthcare providers but is open to the public. The cost is $15 per person on the day of the class.

TR Campus staff will hand out pocket-sized copies of U.S. Constitution and Interesting Facts About It in celebration of Constitution Day. The books are first-come, first-served.

SE Campus celebrates Constitution Day. Students can pick up a free copy of the Constitution 9-11 a.m. in the Bistro.

NE student activities will sponsor Constitution Day: A Focus on Civil Rights. Speakers will discuss minorities in the civil rights movement 11:15 a.m.-12:10 p.m. in the NSTU cafeteria.

NE health services and AIDS Outreach will sponsor free confidential HIV and syphilis testing 10 a.m.-2 p.m. in NSTU 1704A (health services). Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments are encouraged. For more information, call 817-515-6056.

NE faculty and students are invited to attend free Zumba classes. Zumba combines Latin and international music with dance to make exercise fun. Classes are 2-3 p.m. in Center Corner (NSTU 1615A). SE Campus will host a series of student success seminars in the North Ballroom as part of Learning Skills Week. A variety of topics will be presented during various times, 8:30 a.m.-8:20 p.m. Sept. 19-20, 8:30 a.m.-12:40 p.m. Sept. 21 and 8:30 a.m.-2:20 p.m. Sept. 22. NBC 5’s Deborah Ferguson will speak 11:45 a.m.-12:40 p.m. Sept. 21. The free event is sponsored by the advising and counseling center as well as student activities.

The TR lunchtime workshop series continues as business instructor Linda LaCoste speaks on learning styles noon-1 p.m. in the Discovery Center for Student Success (TRTR 1302).

NE Open Mic Night will be held for any students wishing to share writing or performance pieces 7-9 p.m. in the Galley (NSTU 1506). Students may read up to four minutes of poetry, fiction or memoir. NE career services will host an open house and information session R U Wired That Way? 8 a.m.-3 p.m. in the Career Center (NSTU 1625A). Students will learn how to use their app-capable smartphones to find jobs. Refreshments will be served.

SE Campus will host Bank Day 10:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. in the Main Commons. Area bank representatives will be on hand to offer useful information about opening accounts.

Multiple nonprofit organizations, including The United Way, the Boys and Girls Club and Habitat for Humanity will be present for a service fair 10 a.m.-1 p.m. on Main Street on TR Campus. Students can speak with representatives about volunteering their time.

NW career services will host its 40th annual open house 2-5:30 p.m. in WTLO 3111. The open house will welcome students to the campus and provide information on what services are offered. There will be snacks, refreshments and prizes.
