Love will be in the air April 26 at the Love Conference on NW Campus.
The conference, now in its fourth year, will begin at 8 a.m. in WSTU 1303 and will consist of a keynote address by Melinda Veatch, Tarrant Area Community of Churches president, and three workshops taught by TCC instructors or staff members.
Veatch will speak at 12:30 p.m. on the conference’s main theme: Follow the Love.
“Following the love to me is about taking a whole other approach to life, to myself, to others than we tend to take,” she said. “It’s about going beyond fear and having the courage to live on a bigger scale in my own life and with others.”
Carol Hunsberger, speech instructor and Love Conference founder, said the two primary things the conference will try to convey are love for others and, more importantly, self-love.
Workshops include Allowing Yourself to Be Pulled by Your Passion by Kim Jackson, NW performing arts instructor, at 8 a.m.; Love vs. Lust by psychology instructor Jay Green at 9:30 a.m.; and Pursuing Your Passions by Hunsberger at 11 a.m.
“The Love Conference isn’t just promoting self-love, which you need to obtain before you are capable of loving others,” Hunsberger said.
Students will also have the opportunity to receive hands-on professional responsibility, she said.
Hunsberger’s students help put on the entire conference including promotion, registration, website and public service announcement design, theme creation and choice of the keynote speaker. These services are part of the students’ grades and are an interactive approach to their learning process, Hunsberger said.
Registration for the Love Conference is required and may be made in front of the NW Campus bookstore 9:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. April 18 and 19. Students can also register or obtain more information by calling Hunsberger’s office at 817-515-7228.
