NW Campus students, faculty and staff can get their monster on and celebrate Halloween early.

The NW dance program will host a dance-a-thon to support local children Oct. 28.

Monster Mash Dance-a-thon, an annual fundraiser, will collect donations to go to the children of the Tarrant County Assessment Center, an organization dedicated to helping children of the community with their future success.

“Our past dance-a-thons have gone well, but we want this year to be even better,” said Michelle Becerra, president of the NW dance club. “We hope to see a larger turnout from the student body, not just our fellow dance students.”

Becerra said members of the dance company and program are involved in the event because they know how much the donations help the children.

Gabie Ray, a NW dance student came to TCC from the assessment center, where she was last there awaiting adoption.

Ray said she was excited to hear of the dance-a-thon and its contributions to the center.

“I love having the chance to give back what was given to me,” she said. “No one knows what the kids there are going through and how special it is when people take the time to contribute to their success.”

All students, faculty and staff are encouraged to attend the event, which will feature music from the ’60s to today’s hits.

The dance-a-thon will be held 9 a.m.-2 p.m. in WHPE 1103.
