Faculty, staff and students will make their way to the finish line for the fifth annual 5K Turkey Trot on NE Campus’ outdoor track at 12:45 p.m. Nov. 19.

Students can pre-register at the gym supervisor desk in the NHPE building or at the check-in desk outside the weight room.

Sign-in and registration are at noon Nov. 19 for all participants. Students need a current TCC class schedule and picture ID to receive a runner number.

Students currently enrolled in HPE classes may receive extra credit or make up credit for participating in the 5K trot. Students can contact their instructors for credit.

Because this is a charitable event, all participants are encouraged to provide two canned food goods as an entrance fee.

NE intramurals will send all proceeds to local area food banks.

Laura Bradford, an NE HPE instructional associate, said the first three women and men to finish will receive turkeys.

Bradford said the event has grown throughout the years and now hundreds participate.

In past years, Bradford said music and balloons are at every quarter-mile to build up inspiration and motivation for the runners.

Participants can choose to run or walk the 3.1-mile trail.

“It’s not about the fastest,” she said. “We want everyone participating to have fun.”
