Help! Anyone got Cowboys tickets?

Viewpoint by Montreal Spencer/south news editor

The Cowboys’ season opener in the new stadium against the Giants is Sept. 20, and I’ll be there. Granted, I don’t have my ticket yet, but I’ll figure that out later.

Last season, I witnessed my first Cowboys game. It was a preseason game against the Vikings in Irving, but I had a ball.

My $13 margarita and $10 nachos were to die for.

From that moment, I knew I needed more — more margaritas, more nachos, more Cowboys.

Under construction, the new stadium was still somewhat of a mystery. Owner Jerry Jones was trying his best to keep many details about the stadium as low-key as possible.

But the masses knew the 2011 Super Bowl will be played at the new stadium. Time to start saving money.

We also learned the stadium will host the NBA All-Star Game.

Arlington will be more of a tourist attraction. Money will be made, but some Arlington residents are against the new Cowboys’ Stadium.

“It’s too big. Too much traffic. Our tax money. Why’d he spend $1 billion on that when people are starving?” Yada yada yada.

But the Cowboys Stadium is here to stay.

I don’t live in Arlington or really ever had a desire to, until now. I’ve lived in Fort Worth my whole life with plans to transfer to the University of North Texas. But I’ve been thinking about UTA lately.

What would make me change my mind? Margaritas, nachos, an All-Star Game, a Super Bowl and the Cowboys.

That’s right. I make scholastic decisions on the potential for fun.

A friend who visited the new stadium said the stadium was good but everything was high-priced, and there were no water fountains.

One could get angry, or one could respect it. I respect it.

I feel Jones would say, “There will be no free drinking around here. I gotta get this money.”

I bet he’s thinking Tony Romo and the team better step it up. They have 100,000 seats to fill on a weekly basis. No one wants to watch a loser.

I will not knock him for wanting to elevate his brand to the next level.

It’s no different than me putting rims on my car to make it look nicer.

But the stadium is nicer on a different ranking, nicer to the third power. And I’ll be there.
