NW Campus is hosting a night of entertainment at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 25 in front of the school.
Night Solos features a company of dancers, musicians and thespians who’ve been chosen by faculty members to create their own performance pieces. Each of the students had to audition for the show.
“Night Solos is an outdoor evening performance underneath the stars of Texas,” said Amy Sleigh, NW dance associate professor. “We have a lineup of collaborative performers.”
Joshua Blann, associate professor of drama, and Richard Powell, music instructor, are the two other faculty members who helped pull the show together.
“It’s a great way for students to come and watch what their peers are doing,” Blann said. “They haven’t had faculty help them.”
A couple of advanced acting students are doing this as a project, and some acting students will be reciting poetry, Blann said.
Sleigh said this is the show’s third year.
“This collaborative effort is one that is unique to TCC to host it outdoors on our beautiful landscape,” she said.
Sleigh said she is excited about the event because it brings the performing arts together. Blann said the evening would be informal.
The stage is located between the two ponds in front of the parking lot on the east side of the campus. Sleigh said the performance would run for approximately an hour. The event is free, and reservations are not required. The audience is encouraged to bring chairs and blankets.
