TCC students, faculty and staff can get exercise while helping support a charity Oct. 24.
The 2009 Tarrant County Buddy Walk, developed by the National Down Syndrome Society and sponsored by the Down Syndrome Partnership of Tarrant County and Green Oaks School, takes place in River Legacy Park at 701 NW Green Oaks Blvd. in Arlington.
Registration begins at 10 a.m. followed by the walk at 11 a.m. It costs $10 to join the walk, which will help benefit those with Down syndrome.
An estimated 1,000 people will participate for the one-mile walk. Other activities include bounce houses, face painting, food and games.
Every year, the Buddy Walk brings thousands of people together creating an acceptance for those with the syndrome as 250,000 people are expected to participate nationally this year, according to a press release.
National Down Syndrome Awareness Month is recognized in October with many of these walks scheduled throughout the country to benefit those who are affected.
