The Green Giants defeated The Lorenzos in the finals of the NE dodgeball tournament Sept. 27.

The Green Giants took the five-game series three games to one. Travis Rodey identified the key to his team’s success.

“All of our guys were really in sync, whether someone was in or out, we were always communicating,” he said.

Three other teams competed in the tournament: The Cobras, The Fantastic Four and Team Heisenberg.

Although The Green Giants were the winners, this tournament was more recreational than competitive.

Brian Hucker played for The Fantastic Four.

“I was actually working out in the gym when I saw the flier,” he said. “I thought it would be a good way to spend my Friday.”

Although his team had an early exit, Hucker said everyone on his team “had a great time.”

Danny Nunez and Brian Heard from The Lorenzos also enjoyed the tournament, saying they participated because they got a call from their friend who was there.

“He called us up and told us there was an open dodgeball tournament,” Nunez said. “It sounded like it would be fun, so we came.”

Heard also enjoyed himself during the game.

“Yeah, it was really fun, but my thighs are burning,” he said.
